Farming & Sustainability

Farming & Sustainability at Champion Greens 🌲

Here at Champion Greens, we’re deeply committed to sustainable harvesting and forest health. For every tree we prune, we plant another during the Pacific Northwest’s tree planting season (January through April). We love our forests, and we take pride in our environmentally responsible practices  .

Let us tell you a bit about how we gather our beautiful evergreen branches—also known as boughs.

We use manual tree pruners, some up to 20 feet tallno saws involved. We carefully clip about 15 inches off selected branches, always leaving at least 12 inches of branch on the tree. This ensures strong regrowth and keeps the tree healthy.

We never harvest near the crown of the tree. In fact, we require at least 4 to 5 whorls to be left intact at the top. It’s a meticulous process, but when done correctly, those same trees will produce healthy boughs again every 3 years.

The growth that sprouts between the whorls and from the base we leave behind ensures the tree continues to thrive. It's a regenerative process, not a destructive one.

We’ll be sharing photos of the pruning process and the healthy trees post-harvest on our Instagram—so you can see the love and care we put into every step.

Over the past 10 years, Champion Greens has proudly planted hundreds of thousands of trees right here in the Pacific Northwest. In 2025 alone, we planted over 260,000—and honestly, we stopped counting toward the end. What a job!
